Gluten free Breakfast Skillet at Disney's Whispering Canyon

I love a good breakfast, especially if it involves Mickey waffles!  Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite breakfast spots. The log-cabin ambience is relaxing and the waiters are fully of personality. I have dined here in the past but this weekend was my first time requesting the "gluten free" skillet.

When we checked in on the mobile app, I stated my allergy.  I also informed my waiter once we sat down. I have had no problems so far with my meals at Disney but always like to remind the staff to be safe.  I started with a cup of fresh coffee and began looking through the (mobile) menu.

Not surprising, I chose the popular breakfast skillet. I love that the skillets at Whispering Canyon "all you can eat" so I can request more of a specific item  -- because let's be honest, I am always in the mood for more bacon.  The Heritage skillet is currently $22 per person.  The skillet includes Scrambled Eggs, Country Potatoes, Hickory-smoked Bacon, Pork Sausage Links, Allergy-Friendly Mickey-shaped Waffles, and Sausage Gravy (For Gluten/Wheat, Fish/Shellfish, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Soy Allergies).

Actually, did you notice, I got a Minnie waffle?! I didn't even realize that until later when I was looking through my pics. (I have had the allergen friendly waffles on property before and they taste amazing.  I don't taste a difference at all. In fact, the waffles are so yummy that I don't even put syrup on mine!)

Instead of a biscuit, I was given a piece of gluten free toast.  The toast was a little dry and heavy but that is to be expected. Otherwise my meal was fantastic.

My server informed us that Whispering Canyon is now serving brunch all day.  So you can get a burger at 8am or a ham + cheese  omelet at 1pm.  I love that.

Two final notes.  I have noticed that gluten-free items take a little longer to prepare so expect to wait a few extra minutes (which is okay with me as things are always served hot and fresh).  Also, menu items can change so always inform the staff of your allergies.
