WonderWorks Orlando to Offer Educational Opportunities for Fall 2020

Education is going to look different this fall, but WonderWorks Orlando is gearing up to meet the needs of the new normal. Most parents will be looking for ways to help enhance their child’s education, whether that’s with field trips, science labs, or a nice mental break. In the fall, WonderWorks will be expanding its current program and adding new ones to continue to be a place where education and entertainment meet.

“In the midst of these uncertain times, WonderWorks Orlando believes supporting education is critical,” says Brian Wayne, general manager of WonderWorks Orlando. “We look forward to hosting some events in the fall – including our Homeschool Days and a new art program called FLO-ART. Students will be able to submit their artwork and could win a prize pack which includes having their masterpiece on display.”

The educational programs being offered this fall include:

  • Homeschool Days – WonderWorks is expanding their regular Homeschool Days program this fall by adding an additional month. Every weekday in September through November, homeschool families who are looking for an exciting way to add hands-on learning experiences to their new distance learning programs can come enjoy WonderWorks at a reduced ticket price. The tickets for Homeschool Days are $15 per person. Homeschool groups who book ahead will receive a reduced price of $13 per person. More information on Homeschool Days can be found online: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/orlando/homeschool/.

  • FLO-ART Art Contest – Wonderworks is launching a new FLO-ART Art Contest this fall. All semester long, WonderWorks will be collecting submissions from local student artists for the chance to be featured in their art gallery. The contest’s theme this year is “Time to Think.” Submissions forms will open the day after Labor Day. Selected winners will receive four free tickets to WonderWorks to see their artwork on display in the building. Additional information and submission forms can be found online: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/orlando/art-contest/

  • Virtual Learning Labs – Teachers and students looking to expand their lesson plans can partake in one of Professor Wonder’s Virtual Learning Labs this fall. Lab topics will range from the principles of pressure, states of matter, severe weather, the water cycle, adaptation, and more. WonderWorks is choosing to add this program to meet the needs of teachers, students, and families during these unprecedented times. Additional information regarding Professor Wonder’s Learning Labs will be provided online: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/orlando/virtual-labs/

“In addition to these educational opportunities, we also have a new STEM exhibit called Can You Origami?, that focuses on enhancing math skills, problem solving, patience, and attention,” added Wayne. “We look forward to educators and students getting to experience WonderWorks’ educational, upside-down adventure this fall!”

At this time, because of the county-wide mask mandate in Orange County, guests will be required to wear a face covering when they visit. The attraction has also implemented new COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure everyone’s safety, which include reduced capacity, enhanced cleaning efforts, social distancing measures, hand sanitizer stations, employee health screenings, and employee personal protective equipment (PPE). Guests are encouraged to review all safety procedures prior to their visit on their website: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/orlando/covid-19.

WonderWorks Orlando is an adventure that both tourists and locals alike enjoy. The indoor amusement park is open 365 days per year, and features a glow-in-the-dark ropes course, a state-of-the-srt laser tag arena, a 4D XD motion theater, and the Wonder Zones. With over 35,000 square feet of “edu-tainment,” the attraction combines education and entertainment with over 100 hands-on exhibits.
