The BEST beaches in Florida can be found in Sarasota Co.

The clear blue water on Florida's Gulf Coast is our family's favorite, especially on the west coast near Sarasota.

Did you realize six barrier islands hug Sarasota County’s 40 miles of coastline?  The barrier islands, many called “keys,” each have their own personality.  My family visits Lido Key and Siesta Key often -- both only a two hour drive from Orlando.

The beaches of Sarasota Co. offer blue water and white sand.

Siesta Key: Flip flops Required

Winner of Dr. Beach’s Best Beach in 2017, Siesta Key is the most popular beach in the area.  The sand is 99% pure Quartz so it's soft and cool on the feet.  And kids love the crystal clear blue water.  This eight-mile island is accessible by two bridges from the mainland. There is a lot to do in Siesta Key, from parasailing to kayaking to shopping to dining.  You will never get bored!

Lido Key: Timeless Sophistication

Lido Key is nestled between Longboat Key to the north and Siesta Key to the south, and is my kids favorite due due to the calm blue waters.  And bonus --the crowd in Lido is usually light and quiet, which makes relaxing very easy! Although a public beach, North Lido gives the impression of a secluded hideaway, with 3,000 feet of sugary sand and a nature trail for guests to wander along in relative privacy.
