Review: Disney's Vero Beach Resort

Many people don't realize that Disney owns a handful of properties outside of Walt Disney World and Disneyland. This weekend we took a 3-day/2-night trip to Disney's Vero Beach Resort on Florida's Treasure Coast. The sunrise from our balcony was beautiful. The water was a beautiful aqua blue, although I hear this is not common for the Vero Beach area. (I will say we didn't spend much time at the beach. The sand is not soft, in fact lots of broken shells. The rip currents were pretty strong too)
The only characters at this Disney resort are Donald and Goofy. Kids can meet them at Shutter's on Saturday mornings for breakfast. We arrived at 8:15 am and the restaurant was nearly empty (which meant lots of time with the two characters). When we finished an hour later, the restaurant was getting full, so go early! We were served Mickey waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit and pastries. YUMMY!The kids LOVED the pool area. In addition to this great water slide, there is a pirate ship for smaller kids. Lifeguards are on duty during the day time hours. There are lots of activities (putt putt golf, shuffleboard, archery, etc) and games around the pool to keep the young and old busy!
A towel-turtle greeted us in our spacious Inn room. We had two queen beds, microwave, mini-fridge and more! We arrived right before lunch on Friday, and departed mid-day Sunday. We ate three meals at the Resort (lunch at the Green Cabin Room, breakfast at Shutters, and lunch at Bleacher's) but had our two suppers away from the Resort in nearby Vero Beach.

This was the perfect weekend-trip for my family four.
